Movie Time Bookmarklet

The Movie Time Bookmarklet inserts video controls into a page that contains an HTML5 video tag. The controls let you accurately position the play head and get the corresponding time stamps. These time stamps can be used to create captioning and audio description files.

Either add the following link to your bookmarks or drag it to your bookmark menu.

How to Use

  1. Browse to any page with an HTML5 video tag
  2. Click the "Movie Time" bookmarklet from your browser's bookmarks
  3. Video player controls will appear above the video to help you line up precisely where you want a particular audio description to start.
  4. When you have the play head positioned correctly, copy the Current Time to your audio description editor.

Guide to the controls

  • Move the play head backward approximately 0.1 seconds
  • Move the play head forward approximately 0.1 seconds
  • Move the play head backward 5 seconds
  • Move the play head forward 5 seconds
  • Create a bookmark at the current time
  • Move the play head to the time saved in the the bookmark
  • Preview 2 seconds prior to the current location of the play head
    Preview 2 seconds after the current location of the play head
  • Pause the video
  • Play the video at 1/2 speed (for browsers that support it)
  • Play the video at normal speed

  3. This tool will only work with the first HTML5 video tag on a page if more than one video tag exists.
